A 150-person law firm was stuck in the past. To access critical files, their team had to battle a slow, unreliable VPN that dropped connections constantly. Productivity was grinding to a halt, and their expensive on-premise servers were a constant liability.
THE CHALLENGE
The firm's on-premise file server and its required VPN were the single biggest source of employee complaints. The connection was slow, unreliable, and impossible to use from mobile devices. This "VPN-tax" on productivity meant attorneys couldn't work securely from court or home, and IT was constantly fixing a system they hated.
The Solution
We migrated their 10TB of data from their aging on-prem server to Azure Files, secured with Entra ID authentication. This eliminated the VPN entirely. We configured the system so their file shares mapped just like their old "S: Drive," but were now securely accessible from any device, anywhere.
The Result
We eliminated the VPN and 100% of the helpdesk tickets associated with it. Attorneys now have secure, high-speed access to all their files from their laptops, tablets, and phones. The firm decommissioned its expensive on-prem server, saving thousands in hardware and maintenance, and fully embraced a secure, modern, hybrid work model.
